Hansel and Gretel
Brazilian relecture
This is a reinterpretation of the classic tale Hansel and Gretel. Set in a city in southern Brazil, Pelotas, famous for its confectionery tradition.
The city in particular has a tradition of sweets, with a lot of influence from the Portuguese sweets mixed with the ones from various regions of Africa, a mixture that unfortunately was the result of the disastrous period of slavery.
This was my starting point, to create the association between the classic story of Hansel and Gretel with the city where I am from.
